Kalkan was once an Ottoman-Greek sponge and fishing village, called Kalamaki ,and  has now been transformed into one of the most sought after resorts on the Turkish coast.

It has however, managed to retain most of its character and all of its charm and remains a picturesque village, clinging onto the side of the steep hillsides that enclose a circular, perfect bay.
Kalkan is a grid of small of narrow, cobbled streets with  terraces of whitewashed houses adorned with vibrant bougainvilles, oleander and jasmines adding splashes of colour.

By day the village itself is deserted as everyone in the know, heads out to the numerous beach clubs or to  the stunning 20 km stretch of soft gold sand at Patara.

By night the village springs back into life, as the sun sets over the harbour, you can stroll around the Aladdin’s cave of Kalkan’s  back streets. The choice of restaurants is wide, some so low key, you need to look hard to find them and others enjoying first class sea front settings.

Much of the seafront is taken up by the quaint fishing harbour where boats ferry guests out to beach clubs and local fisherman haul in their nets, adjacent to this is the cobbled public beach, very convenient to the village for a quick refreshing dip.

The delights of Kalkan are endless, and nobody can fail to be wooed by the magic  ambiance of Kalkan  and the nearby sights that are on offer.
