Dalyan town is a bright and bustling town
bursting character, making  its living from the river.

Local ladies hang up their herbs, peppers and corn to dry and it is evident that rural and traditional life continues thrives for so many.
The river really is the life source for the locals and the brightly coloured canopied river taxis and small fishing craft bob along its banks.  The atmosphere here is relaxed and warm for the visitor and its streets a delight to wander around. Numerous souvenir and gift shops line the narrow lanes and the restaurants on the banks of the river make an almost fairytale setting as the dramatic rock tombs are lit up at night.

It is the scenery that visitors tell of long after they return home, the fertile plains that the river idly runs through past remains the ancient city of Caunos, a labyrinth of reeds and a bewildering array of birds, flora and wild river life flourish here.
The river meets the sea about half an hour by boat and this is where you get  your first glimpse of the 5 kilometre golden sand bar of Iztuzu, a truly spectacular sight. Backed by soaring mountains adorned with vivid pink oleander is an extraordinary landscape and the breeding ground for the 95 million year old species the rare loggerhead turtle or Caretta Caretta.
The rocky acropolis of Caunos is a must for visitors, and the rejuvenating mud baths on the river banks is a popular stop .
There are a myriad of lakes and  lagoons to be explored, spectacular walking and cycling country here making a perfect destination for couples and families alike.
